Cat Cam Theme Music
LATEST UPDATE: Oscar decided to rehome himself in early summer. He just wanted to be free. I’m cool with that. I gave him a choice with respect.

OK…the latest drama. After my sweet Oreo passed away on February 28th, I was gifted a new cat in March, now named Oscar. Cat breed is at least part Russian Blue but does have some white on his underside. Very muscular and FAST.

Well, the history with this guy is he was an outside cat but was attacked and wounded at his former stomping grounds somewhere in Pennsylvania. Because I have tons of wildlife around here (fox, bobcat, coyote, fisher cat, turtles) and speeding cars down my street, I kept him inside. There, he was miserable and always crying. Well, one day he gets outside and only comes back at nite to eat. He has no desire to come back in the house after being committed to it from March thru most of July. I now believe his constant crying was to be outside though he never went to the door and cried to help me discern that earlier.
So now, I have his blanket, food and water outside. I wasn’t sure who or what was eating the food so I set up my trail cam. But then the other day, some other mooching cat appeared on my trail cam eating his food! Oscar missed out. He better learn to better defend his resources. What am I to do? Ideas? Time Line: This was after the camera was setup when he was gone 4 days. 07/23/2023.

7/25 Torrential rain and thunderstorms unexpected and I left the SD reader on the cam exposed to moisture. Managed to recover pics but very poor quality. Oscar is still around.

Turns out I may need a different SD card and/or upgrade to lithium batteries as the night infrared flash is not operating properly. Took the camera inside to thoroughly dry out and test before redeploying. You can see that the most recent photos at night are definitely not of any value. I may also be changing the resolution from 8MP to 16MP to see if that improves quality of night shots if needed. If so, I will have to set it to not overwrite as the max sd card is 32GB.
